I wanted to use the same shape both up and down. Having like the almost primal form of a lamp hanging upside down looks very surprising in a way. The interaction between the different types creates a sense of rhythm.

The story behind modularity

Designer Jeffrey Huyghe’s challenge was to design an architectural pendant with a decorative touch. His inspiration came from the idea that pendant lighting can mean both, down and up light. Imagine it on Pista 48V with its fun shapes and colours. Its matt diffuse glass showing the beautiful light of warm dim.

Warm dim for Placebo

Go for Placebo with warm dim, tune down the intensity of your light and enjoy a change of colour temperature to a warmer, yellowish light.

Mix & match modular pendant lighting

Glass ball or tube, different sizes, many anodised colours. A family of elements, every piece made to fit with each other, for you to play, mix & match. Push modularity further and elevate your story with the matching colours of complementary families such as Shellby, Minude and Thimble.

General lighting, up and down light, and more

Placebo offers much more than general lighting up and down. You will notice a surprising light effect when you start experimenting with more than one Placebo. Try out two, a row of alternating up and down lights, using the same midline level or different levels, or a creative cluster!

Placebo on Pista

Placebo is a totally different story on our Pista 48V track. Try a configuration with 2 or 3 Placebos, up & down, with or without shades. Extend your Placebo expression across the ceiling of residential or hospitality spaces, and have fun with our pendant's smart lighting capabilities, with Hue or Casambi technology.
